Delay sprays & gels for men
Topical sprays and gels that can help men last longer — plus honest guidance on how to use them safely.
How does a delay spray work?
Most delay sprays contain a mild local anaesthetic (such as lidocaine or benzocaine) that slightly reduces sensitivity on the penis. Less sensitivity can help delay ejaculation. Always check the pack for the exact ingredients.

- Patch-test on your inner arm 24 hours before the first use.
- Apply the number of sprays stated on the pack to the head and shaft.
- Wait 5–15 minutes (or as directed) for it to absorb.
- Wipe off any excess, or use a condom, so your partner doesn't go numb.
- Start with fewer sprays — you can add more next time.
Side effects
Some men notice tingling, mild irritation or too much numbness, which can make it harder to stay erect. Use less next time, stop if you get a rash or burning, and never apply to broken skin.
If premature ejaculation happens most of the time, a doctor can help — it's common and very treatable. A cock ring is another non-medical option many couples use.
