Rabbit vibrator guide (India): what it is, how to use one and how to choose

A rabbit vibrator gives internal and external stimulation at the same time. Here's how it works, who it suits, how to use one step by step, and what to check before you buy one in India.

The rabbit is probably the best-known vibrator shape in the world, and it's one of the most searched types in India too. The name comes from the small external arm, which on classic models looks like a pair of rabbit ears. What makes it special is simple: one toy gives you internal and external stimulation at the same time. This guide explains how a rabbit works, whether it's right for you, how to use one for the first time, and what to look for when you buy.

What is a rabbit vibrator?

A rabbit vibrator has two parts joined at the base. The longer part is a shaft that goes inside the vagina, usually curved slightly towards the front wall, where the G-spot area is. The shorter part is an outer arm that rests on or beside the clitoris. Most rabbits have a motor in each part, and many let you control the two separately, so you can have gentle vibration on the shaft and stronger vibration on the arm, or the other way round. Some newer designs replace the ears with a flicking tip, petals or an air-pulse head.

Because most women need clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm, having both at once is what many people love about a rabbit. If you only want one kind of sensation, a simpler toy may suit you better: a G-spot vibrator for internal only, or a bullet or clitoral suction toy for external only.

Is a rabbit vibrator right for you?

  • A good fit if: you already enjoy external vibration and are comfortable with insertion, and you'd like to try both together.
  • Maybe not first if: you've never used a toy before or aren't sure about insertion. Start with an external toy and come back to a rabbit later. Our beginner's guide explains why.
  • For couples: a rabbit can be used during foreplay, with your partner holding it, and it's a good way to show them exactly where the external arm needs to sit.

How to choose a rabbit vibrator

  • Size: Check the total length, the insertable length and the width on the product images. A slimmer shaft is easier for a first rabbit, and remember that the handle takes up part of the total length.
  • The outer arm: A flexible arm is easier to line up with different bodies than a stiff one. Ears, a flicking tongue and petal shapes all feel different.
  • Controls: Separate controls for the shaft and the arm let you find a combination you like. The Multi Frequency Jack Rabbit has arrow buttons on the handle; the Warmwave Flicker has touch controls and a petal-style arm.
  • Power: USB-rechargeable toys save you buying batteries; battery models are often cheaper. Our vibrators under ₹2,000 guide covers budget options.
  • Material: Smooth silicone is the easiest to clean. Read silicone vs TPE if the listing mentions another material.

How to use a rabbit vibrator: step by step

  • Wash it first with warm water and mild soap, and charge it fully if it's rechargeable.
  • Take your time. Get relaxed and aroused before you try insertion, with your hands or with the arm used externally on its own.
  • Add plenty of water-based lube to the shaft. With silicone toys, never use silicone lube.
  • Insert the shaft slowly, with the outer arm facing up towards the clitoris. Stop and adjust if anything feels uncomfortable.
  • Find the position. Move the shaft in or out a little until the arm rests on or just beside the clitoris. If it doesn't line up, tilt the handle rather than pushing deeper.
  • Turn it on low. Start both motors on the lowest setting, then raise one at a time. Many people like the arm stronger than the shaft.
  • Experiment. Try holding it still, gentle rocking, or slowly changing the angle. There's no right way, only what feels good to you.

Cleaning and storage

Rabbits need a little more care than simple toys because of the gap where the arm meets the shaft. After each use, wash the whole toy with warm water and mild, unscented soap, and use your fingertip or a soft brush to clean that joint. Unless the listing says the toy is waterproof, keep the charging port and buttons out of water. Dry it completely and store it in a clean pouch, away from other toys and out of direct sun. Our cleaning guide has more detail, and there's a Hindi version: sex toy kaise saaf kare.

Safety notes

  • Stop if anything hurts. Discomfort usually means you need more lube, a lower setting or a smaller toy.
  • Use a rabbit only vaginally. It doesn't have a flared base, so it isn't safe for anal use; see our butt plug guide instead.
  • A vibrator is for pleasure. It isn't a medical treatment. If you have pain during sex or any ongoing symptoms, see a doctor or gynaecologist.
